We have this 'treasure' in earthen vessels......

(note:  the information on this blog is to be read slowly and in short 'bites' or thoughts, that is why I have written it that way.  One of my favorite sayings that Lord gave me is:  "Feed don't read".  Feeding rather than reading will yield great rewards. AW)

I never tire of looking at this picture.  It illustrates a great truth.
Take a few moments and let it burn into your mind so the Holy Spirit can bring it back to you as needed.

The Apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians 4:6&7:
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ....but we have this treasure (this light) in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us."

It is interesting that 'hands' are holding the 'light'.
What are hands made of?
Earth....
Genesis 2:7:  "And God formed man (man's body) from the dust of the ground (earth)."

What is the hands holding?
Light.
The light represents the 'treasure'.

This picture perfectly represents the 'treasure in earthen vessels'.
What is a vessel?
A container....the earthen vessel (hands) is the container.
What does the earthen vessel contain?
The Treasure...in this case the light.

Your body (earthen vessel) is the container of the Treasure.
What is the Treasure?
The list is very long.
First, the treasure is a spirit.
What are you?
A spirit.
God said....'Let us make man in our image and after our likeness', Gen. 1:26.
What is God?
A spirit.....
John 4:24, Jesus said:  "God IS a spirit....."
James:  "the body without the spirit is dead....", (James 2:26).

Everyone will exist forever.
Spirits are eternal.

In the case of the Christian, the spirit has become a "Recreated Treasure".
2 Cor. 5:17:  "If any man (anyone) be in Christ, they are a new creation, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new."

I don't know if you have taken some time to look this verse up in other translations, but it is a very rewarding experience.
Here is a link to a web site containing different versions of the Bible.  You can look something up by word, verse, chapter, etc:

The "New Creation" subject must be an on-going study in your life.
It is the key to successful Christian living and a 'spirit-walk' with the Lord.

I love getting to know this New Creation in me. It's sort of like having a life long friend whom you spend intimate time with through out each day, and as you do you discover something new about both your friend and yourself. It has become the most meaningful relationship in my life, one that always creates in me a sense of confidence and peace.
